Annis

Image
This is a gift I made for a co-worker. Pattern is Annis, by Susanna IC (free on Ravelry), yarn is laceweight alpaca.

Modification

Image
I modified the pattern to swap out the nupps for beads. I hate nupps, and the beads add a nice weight to the edges.

Emergency Mohair

Image
I thought I would spend all week making this feather-and-fan scarf for my MIL. Instead, it took only a few hours, mostly in the car on the way to CT for the holidays. Good thing I brought extra projects along!! Yarn is JJ's Mohair.

Colorwork Earwarmer

Image
I made this as a holiday gift option, although it is more likely an excuse to play some more with stranded knitting :)

Waiting for Santa?

Image
I'll be taking pictures of the last-minute projects, but probably won't post again until after the holidays. In the meantime, I'll leave you with this peaceful image of our sweet brown doggie under the tree.

Non-Holiday Knitting

Image
Strangely out of sequence is a pair of non-holiday knitting socks that I started back in October. Pattern is Globe Trotter Socks by Jodi St. Clair (free on Ravelry), yarn is Crazy Zauberball.

One Ring to Rule Them All

Image
I'm taking it on faith that this says something to that extent, and not "Foolish LOTR Poser" :) This will be for my brother for Xmas. The pattern is by Susanne Scheel, with my own adaptations to the brim and crown.

Finally Finishing

Image
Kylie is posing with the finished pillows that will soon be on their way to the Midwest for Xmas. There was blocking and sewing involved - which are nowhere near as fun as the knitting! (Pattern is October Fair Isle Pillow, by Kate Jackson Knits.)

Xmas Colorwork Frenzy

Image
I have been doing all knitting and very little finishing these past few days!!

Housewarming

Image
I've just finished these coordinating pillows for friends who are settling into a new house. I've had these yarns hanging around for a while now, all they needed were cool buttons and a fun pattern (which you'll recognize - it's becoming an "oldie but goodie"!). Happy Thanksgiving!

Xmas Olympic Hat

Image
A few things are finally getting finished this week! This one is the Olympic Reindeer Hat pattern by Helena Bristow (free on Ravelry); I added the USA letters as a modification. Although our colorwork theme isn't officially scheduled to begin until 2012, this is the second Olympic Hat I've made this year! I've found myself pleasantly surprised at how easy and fun it is to work with two colors at a time!

Felted Wine Cozy Prototype

Image
Here is the first of several felted wine cozies, made with leftover Olympic Hat yarn (Elann Highland Wool) and based on the Felted Wine Caddy pattern by Cricket Toomey (also free on Ravelry). I'm making a few others, each with their own modification and design. This is a fast and fun project, and is perfect for the holidays!

Haven't Forgotten How to Knit...

Image
...but may have forgotten how to finish......

Stacia Socks

Image
More socks. These in a fun color called Not Your Ordinary Bird, with some really neat lace that I'm just not able to capture adequately here. I've got tons more things on the needles, but not a lot coming off just yet, so stay tuned for more yarn antics!

Flamewalkers

Image
These brightly colored lovelies are the latest in my ongoing obsession with socks. They are made with Cherry Tree Hill Fingerpaints, color "Mango Madness".

Flower Basket Socks

Image
I've been enjoying myself with some sock diversions lately. This first pair off the needles has flower bouquet motifs and a woven patterning. Others in the works will continue this year's lace theme, which has only 3 months to go!

Girasole!!

Image
Here is Girasole, all completed and blocking on the bed. The king size bed. This thing is huge.

Mom's B-Day Lace Shawl

Image
Here is the lace shawl from VLT that I made for my mom's b-day. I'm a little behind schedule, but at least it is blocking now. Evidently, I made an inadvertent mini mobius strip on one of the short edges with the knit-on edging, but it's centered enough to appear as a sort of design element (at least that's what I'm telling myself!).

All That You Can't Leave Behind

Image
This is all that was left of the original cone of yarn. Note the "bare" spots! Yipes!

Wedding Pillows

Image
I've been busy, but I don't have much to show for it - yet. You will be seeing a lot of finished lace in the coming days, so stay tuned! In the meantime, here are two pillows that I dyed and knit for friends who are getting married next week.

Distracted by Random Yarn

Image
This is a cotton biscuit warmer. I had a big cone of this cotton yarn and wanted to make something nice with it. I may have just enough left over to make a thick potholder!

Strange Orphan Yarn

Image
Here is a light scarf I made with a skein of hand-dyed silk. I have no idea what I had in mind when I bought it, but it will be a nice cooler weather wardrobe accent piece.

Some New FOs

Image
Felted coasters, made with vintage wool. These will be a wedding gift.

More Socks

Image
These are at least semi-lacy, and catch me up on my self-imposed one-sock-per-month quota.

Neuro's Cortex

Image
Mystery Object #3, headed to a neuroknitter near you!

Summer Socks

Image
Here is the first pair of summer socks off the needles and into the finishing process!

Lake Ontario Socks

Image
Most appropriately, these were made on the shores of the very lake for which they're named! Check out the cute sailboat on the heel too.

Oh, Go On!

Image
I've been knitting, but I don't have anything quite photo-worthy just yet. Next week I will be busy with finishing! In the meantime, here are some swan pictures.

Going On

Image
This swan has visited us several times over the past couple of years. Sometimes we have bread for him, other times he just glides on by.

Admiring the Colors

Image
Every night the sunset has different color themes. This one was more along the lines of Maxfield Parrish. Looks like the swan is a fan too.

More Parrish Colors

Headed Out

And Good Night

Image
That little dot is the swan, headed somewhere quiet for the night.

Somewhat of a Spoiler

Image
Here is a peek at another Mystery Thing. What could it be??

Mystery Solved!

Image
Here is the Mystery Shawlette, nestled next to the rosebush that Neuro gave us many years ago.

Bilateral Sheep

Image
Sheep do like flowers, after all!

Cat's Paw on Kylie

Image
Finally blocked, Cat's Paw is over 10 feet long! You can see here that it has nearly engulfed Kylie, who is not a small dog.

Manic Mystery

Image
I was slightly obsessed today and finished Clue #3. Already. Now I'm stuck with the Sheep Scarf and a pair of socks for the rest of the weekend. Hope I don't finish those too soon!

I Guess I Like the Purples

Image
In anticipation of the long weekend, I thought I might get started on Girasole. It's fun and the fat yarn makes it go quickly. Now - back to the Mystery Shawlette!

Obsession or.......

Image
....dopamine??

Summer Mystery Shawl

Image
Here are the first 12 rows of Wendy's knitalong pattern. After re-starting 3 times, I finally got into the swing of things (perhaps there was dopamine involved as well??).

Weekend Away

Image
It's that time of year again!

Sheep Scarf Begun

Image
You can't really see the sheep yet though.

Lake Ontario Sock

Image
This is my first sock in a couple of months - I'm way behind schedule! There's a white sailboat on the heel that will slow me down somewhat; otherwise these are fast and fun.

Baybee Wonderful Complete

Image
Drying after some steaming - and hopefully en route to its recipient this week!

Mother's Day Gift

Image
Spoiler Alert Neuroknitter!! Here is a small preview of the gift I made for my mom.

Cats Paw - Unblocked

Image
And I had only about 2 feet left of yarn when I finished!!

All Together Now!!!

Image
Now drying after some light blocking, this afghan will soon be on its way to its recipients! We now return to our original lace programming, already in progress...

Some Assembly Required

Image
All 30 squares are complete and are ready to be crocheted together! The outside border design is still TBD, depending on what looks best when everything is all together.

The Bad News Is....

Image
Complete pattern failure for the Yorkshire Puddings. Today I sucked it up and frogged.
