Cowldici

Hello on this cold and snowy Friday! Casapinka has done it again - this time instigating a KAL with a pattern from her repertoire.  No mystery here, but when I suggested to Neuro that I might make one in handspun, she replied - COWL?? Here is the parent pattern: After a refreshing dive in the yarn stash, I failed to come up with any handspun that would work, but I did find some hand-DYED (by Neuro!) and some lovely leftovers: Neuro gave me the yarn at the bottom left the last time we met in person (last summer!);   Bottom right is alpaca/silk dyed by Kangaroo Dyer (of Webs fame), and top is JaggerSpun silk/merino (OK, commercially dyed, but it's going to be the accent color so not a biggie).  The laceweights will be held double. This project will have to get in line behind a few others, but it's very exciting to have these special plans for these special yarns! Stay safe and well, especially those of you in the path of the snowbomb cyclone headed your way!

FO!!!!!

Hello on this mahi mahi Sunday! I feel like it's been forever since I've actually finished something.  Now that they are done and blocked, may I present Yoga Socks #1: Yes - I had originally intended to make 2 pair before the 2021 holidays.  At this rate, I'll be right on schedule to have 2 pair ready for the 2022 holidays! (The colors look a bit washed-out in this photo - they are much brighter in reality.) (To be fair, there is a lot of competition for knitting time these days - and lots of knitting competition therein as well!) In other news - OH needed to plow some large paths in the snow so the professional tree guys could get to their victims (they were scheduled to come in March but they had an opening - hey, they're the ones getting cold and facing danger, they can come as early as they'd like!).  The tree parts worked out great, and now Daisy thinks these paths are just for her!  Stay safe and well :)

The Nor'easter Took a Left

Hello on this spinach lasagna Tuesday!! We had a boatload of snow yesterday - I'm thinking it's about 14", plus or minus a couple.  It's hard to tell because there was also a lot of wind and some lake effect thrown in there!  Fortunately it was well predicted so we had the chance to make a few preparations. I've been telling my friends who live along the East Coast that we took one for the team - usually these snow cyclones head right for Boston and surrounding areas.  This one took a left due to some other atmospheric disturbance. The double-layered Super Warm hat I made for OH last year (samoyed and merino on the outside, custom dyed and intentionally slightly felted; merino on the inside) kept his head warm and dry without overheating in the wind and snow yesterday, so that was a good choice. I did some work on Pinion over the long weekend: I'm enjoying the current garter stitch section, mostly because I don't have to remember to keep track of each row :

The Next Pinion!

Hello on this spaghetti and meatballs Wednesday!! I finally started Pinion 10 last night: The KAL is wrapping up but I'm not looking ahead so it's all still a delightful surprise for me :)  Casapinka has mentioned that she's already got something else in the works (of course!), so hopefully I'll get through this one before that starts, because you know I need to make that too, whatever it is!! Competition for knitting time has been fierce - between the day job and the side hustle, OH's hat, yoga socks (almost done!), and socks-for-cookieporn, there is little time left!  It's all good, though! I hope your 2022 has been joyful and healthy thus far!  Stay safe :)
