First Socks in Nearly a Year!

I realized recently that I haven't made any socks since March 2006! Nothing I tried worked. So I took a pattern I really liked, Colour Joy Socks from Red Bird Knits, and made it again using Socks That Rock yarn (Dutch Canyon colorway). This is a slip-stitch pattern that gives some extra interest to yarns with short space-dyed lengths.

This picture is taken on top of the cozy blanket I got for Xmas - I call it my Flat Stuffed Animal. It's great for napping, and also appears to work nicely for photographing darker colored objects (although the colors in this photo do seem a little darker than they really are).

Colorful Booties and Socks

It is the Year of Colorwork, but mostly what I've done so far is produce a few color ful items!  I've been making this baby bootie pattern for years, mostly from leftover sock yarns.  This particular yarn is what remained from last fall's Flamewalker Socks .  That these booties stand up all by their jaunty selves makes them particularly appealing. These are  Crazy For You socks.  They haven't told me yet exactly whom they are crazy for , but I'll let them ponder that for a while.  It appears I may have caught a bit of Knitting New England's Tangerine Tango  with all of these orangey colors!

Wingspan, Part I

I have two skeins of Classic Elite Alpaca Sox yarn that absolutely refuse to become socks. They pool, they gap, they otherwise cry and carry on in all sorts of ways. So, they are becoming Wingspans instead. I finished the first one last night, and cast on the second one this morning. They are, indeed, a pleasurable and addictive knit!

The Importance of Gauge and Following Directions

Hello on this summery Thursday! Things here continue to be busy but mostly favorable :) I also continue to cast on new projects (see below), work a bit here and there on existing projects (mostly Shawlography and Criterion Cowl , and so finish nothing.  Perhaps one day I'll have 4,000 FOs to show you!! (I do need to attempt to clear the decks at some point because Casapinka has another MKAL coming up in a few weeks and it requires 1600 yards of four different colors of fingering weight yearn - egads!!!). In the meantime, I had a fun series of events happen when I started on the I'm Not Who You Think I Am  cowl (Neuro is also knitting this and may even be done with it by now!!).
