Sturm und Stricken

Check out the weather that was headed right for me yesterday afternoon:

Nothing happened, aside from a few drops of rain and a couple of gusts of wind.  It was the second round of cold fronts that were passing through here yesterday - perhaps all the drama went elsewhere?  (Do you see how green the Whatever is after all the rain??)

Also yesterday - the yarn I needed to complete the GLC arrived, and then I had a crazy idea:  Oogyhubby was going out with friends that evening, including the intended recipient!  I certainly wouldn't have it done by the time he left, but what if he were to present it upon arrival home?  So I crrocheted furiously for the next few hours, then spent more time than I thought I'd need working in all the ends.  Here is the final pic, before I folded it up and left it for the later presentation:

(It's so big that I couldn't get it to fit in the shot - but you get the idea)

I felt a great satisfaction upon its completion, and now it is with its intended recipient.  Today I was able to focus on this next one:

Waiting for Rain does not make for a pretty blocking - but hopefully you get the idea here as well.  It will look much better when worn, which will happen when my mom tries it on next week!

What's next?  Brioche is the closest in the queue to being finished, and I'm feeling the need to make socks so maybe I'll start the Thunder and Lightnings over again.  Since it's nearly the end of the month, I should think about casting on for September Hat.  AND - I've been slacking off on the baby mitts lately, so I should crank out a couple of pairs of those as well.

In other news - it's a beautiful, sunny, cool day today.  I love the angle of the sunlight this time of year, even though it also means that the days are shorter.  Only the annoying birds seem to be hanging around - crows, bluejays, and the peckers.  There was a lone deer out in the field last evening.  Dare I say that all else seems quiet?  We'll see what the weekend brings!

2 FOs!!! Awesome.
OogyMom is totally lucky. She has you as a daughter AND she gets such an awesome shawl. Your picture shows the lace parts very nicely.
