Socks on a Plane

I think these may count as the first finished project in 2019, even though I started them in December.  Pattern is Socks on a Plane, yarn is Fortissima Colori Socka Color (which I see is discontinued - how long did I have this yarn??).

I wanted a toe-up pattern because I'd already used a bunch of the yarn to make yoga socks for a holiday gift (no toes or heels - this is a good pattern) and planned to use as much of the remaining yarn as possible.  There is a wee bit left - perhaps enough for a preemie mitt or two?

I continue to wrestle with the Hawthorne and Ruana Redux projects, and there may be some other crafts making an appearance as well!

I have two skeins of Classic Elite Alpaca Sox yarn that absolutely refuse to become socks. They pool, they gap, they otherwise cry and carry on in all sorts of ways. The Importance of Gauge and Following Directions

Hello on this summery Thursday! Things here continue to be busy but mostly favorable :) I also continue to cast on new projects (see below), work a bit here and there on existing projects (mostly Shawlography and Criterion Cowl , and so finish nothing.  Perhaps one day I'll have 4,000 FOs to show you!! (I do need to attempt to clear the decks at some point because Casapinka has another MKAL coming up in a few weeks and it requires 1600 yards of four different colors of fingering weight yearn - egads!!!). In the meantime, I had a fun series of events happen when I started on the I'm Not Who You Think I Am  cowl (Neuro is also knitting this and may even be done with it by now!!). Thing A Month - May - Knitting Backwards

Dear Neuro, I'm so glad you suggested that we make Grey Gardens !  It's a terrific pattern with very helpful details.  I not only learned a lot about the construction of entrelac, but I also had the chance to practice on bigger yarn and needles.  The knitting backwards part was pretty easy in the end (thanks to VeryPinkKnits ) , although it was often times way less fiddly to turn the work (especially at the edges) than to attempt a backwards K2tog.  Here is Kylie modeling the finished item: I gave up on the original pattern I'd selected for the entrelac socks, and ended up fashioning my own, using some tips derived from the combination of several different patterns.  With a bit of puzzling as to how to do this in the round, and with the realization that entrelac is knit on the bias so some creative decreasing/increasing is needed at the cuff and ankle, I am off to the races: It's funny how the self-striping yarn makes these color changes look deliberat...
