TGIF - again!!!  Where did the past week go????  I can tell you, I've been doing a lot of: test knitting, working, working, and trying to be a good test student (working!).  I do have some measurable progress: (Another terrible picture, LOL) This is the test knit I'm working on.  It looks a million times better in the daylight of course.  This yarn has many color dimensions - there's blue and teal and black, among other things, and it just beams!  The yarn is a bit rustic but the fabric at this gauge is lovely (even though I find myself picking out the occasional small piece of hay).  I've been coming up to the end of the first cake of yarn for days - someone the yarn is reproducing at the core and I just can't seem to get to the end of it!  I was hoping that would be a good milestone but it continues to be elusive. I have not knit on anything else, nor have I engaged in any other yarn-related crafts.  This may be a first! In wildlife news - ...

So Happy It's Thursday!  I hope this finds you safe and well; we're good here.  And busy!  Oh my!  I'm enjoying my new job but it really gets in the way of my knitting time, LOL!! And the past couple of weeks have been super busy.  Oogyparents came to visit this past weekend, so there were the preparations (things needed cleaning, menus needed planning, supplies had to be procured) and of course the visit.  I like to feed them like kings when they're here, so I'm pretty sure I washed every dish in the house at least once a day!  One evening I got careless and burned the back of my hand whilst taking something out of the oven (if you can even imagine that - it takes a special skill!).  But we had a blast, and the weather was amazing. Not only that, but I now have TWO knitting deadline projects! The first one is a test knit for Green Mountain Spinnery and made with their Lana yarn in Noche.  The pattern is a lovely open cardi with 3/4 length ...

Hello on this Tuesday!  I hope this finds you safe and well; we're good here. These arrived in the mail yesterday, courtesy of Neuro: Now, don't let some of these colors fool you - what they appear to be in powder form can sometimes be very misleading!!  But some of these are super bright already!  We're going to have a blast!!  Thank you, Neuro!! (There will be some less vibrant colors at the ready as well, in case anyone wants to make hubby socks.)   In wildlife updates - I don't really have any, but there have been hummer sightings in the area recently, so I just cooked up a bunch of hummer crack to fill the feeders later today.  It will be fun to see those little zoomers again! 

Hello on this sunny Saturday!  I hope this finds you safe and well; we're good here. For the first time in several months I find myself on a Saturday without any looming deadlines (there are always deadlines, of course, but some of them happen sooner!).  I spent last weekend finishing up my practicum work for school.  Today I give you the Casapinka KAL shawl from last fall: It's been so long I forget what I was calling this!  Of course it looks way better in real life.  The multi-colored yarn is some handspun I had been saving for a special occasion, and the others are leftovers from other projects that I already had in my stash.  It turned out beautifully, and I can't wait to wear it! I continue work on my latest Casapinka project and various socks inbetween.  I don't have much else to show right now, but there are a couple of recently-planned projects coming up that will jump to the front of the queue once very soon. TGIF on yet another blustery day!  I hope this finds you safe and well; we're good here. I finally blocked the second of the first set of CSM socks:  I continue to knit away on stuff, but still not much to show for it.  I've got some other blocking work to do, so perhaps there will be new pics soon! I learned earlier this week that the only thing keeping me from GRADUATING this May (with an M.P.H.) are all the check boxes for my practicum requirement.  I've done all the work, but the faculty advisor needs to check the boxes.  Fingers crossed! My new job is going well and I really enjoy working with the people I interact with the most.  It's a great mix of alone-work and informative meetings, all of which I do from right here (or just to the left of right here which is where that monitor currently sits). We've had a bit of rain lately so not much to report in terms of wildlife.  But things are greening up so I expect there will be fauna to accompany all...

Hello on this snowy and blustery Thursday morning!  I hope you're safe and well; we're good here. Yes - it looks like February outside at the moment, with snow on the ground and a wave of heavy lake effect snow hitting us.  It shouldn't last long, but for the moment it is a winter wonderland out there (or maybe a winter WTFland is more like it??). I finally completed the deep heel experimental CSM shortie socks, here is their pic: These are actually a gift for my mom, just in time for Mother's Day!  I think they look super cute, and although I think there is more hand knitting on there than machine knitting, they were a great experiment and really fun to make. I still haven't dyed the minis for the "full size" version of these - which will be pink for this particular yarn (toes and heels anyway - not sure about the cuff yet).  I did, however, get one of LW's sock tubes cranked out yesterday.  The pile of yarn bundles continues to grow!  (Neuro - I'...

Hello on this strangely blustery Tuesday!  I hope this finds you safe and well; we're good here. I'm very happy to be on Day Two of my second vaccine dose.  I'm a little sleepy, and the injection site is red and itchy.  I must be one hell of an antibody factory!!!! I've been working a bit here and there on the yarn packs for our upcoming Dye Weekend.  I did Neuro's fist because they need to be mailed to her.  They wanted to pose for you: Each full skein is CSM-knitted into a tube and has an additional 20g skein for accent color or whatever.  The yellow yarn you see is the "waste" yarn that guards the live stitches on both ends.  It's pretty good about not unraveling, so I just make it long enough so that even accidents won't unravel the good stuff! Other projects continue to progress slowly.  It's not a race, so I'm really trying to intentionally enjoy the process! In wildlife news - not much going on these days.  But we're supposed to ...
